Pasighat, Dec. 11:-The 96th Birth Anniversary of the legendary Dr. Daying Ering was celebrated with deep reverence and patriotic pride at the D. Ering Square Statue near the Siang Guest House Pasighat today. The commemorative event, which included a solemn floral tribute, was organised by the Daying Ering Heritage Portal (DEHP) under the aegis of the Himalayan Tribal Heritage Society (HTHS).
Late Dr. Daying Ering—remembered as a visionary leader, a crusader for the introduction of the Panchayati Raj system, and one of the principal architects of modern Arunachal Pradesh—was fondly honoured for his far-reaching contributions. The presence of Panchayati Raj body members added further significance to the occasion, reflecting the enduring legacy of a leader who transformed grassroots governance in the state.
The program was graced by Shri Tapi Darang, HMLA, 38th Pasighat, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Takeng Taggu, President of Adi Belt and a member of the Village Social Authority, as the Guest of Honour. Representatives from ABK Apex, various CBOs, family and clan members, and enthusiastic students also attended the tribute, making the event heartfelt and memorable.
The Tirki Mannong Mappang Welfare Society extended its heartfelt gratitude to DEHP and HTHS for organising this meaningful celebration of Dr. Ering’s 96th Birth Anniversary, stating that the family will forever remain honoured by such recognition of their great forefather.
During the program, Shri Tarin Tabi, President of DEHP & HTHS, along with Yesi Norbu (General Secretary), Takeng Somior (Convenor), and advisors Shri Kenyom Dabi, Toko Teki, and Pike Pulu, earnestly appealed to the State Government to formally acknowledge the towering legacy of Dr. Daying Ering.
They strongly urged for:
A gazetted state day in his honour, or Installation of his statue at prominent locations across Arunachal Pradesh.
The society also appealed to prominent community bodies such as ABK, NES, GWS, and the Apatani Welfare Society to support this movement for rightful recognition of Dr. Daying Ering’s immense contributions to the state and its people.
