Loretta Young plays Amy, a bedraggled woman adrift in life who shows up late one night at a lonely diner, buys a cup of coffee with her last dime, then simply disappears.

When she is later unjustly accused of participating in a hold-up, the sympathetic beanery owner (played by Jock Mahoney) befriends her and together they join forces, confident they can prove her innocence and help each other at the same time.

Jock Mahoney was featured in several episodes of this series in the early years, but is best remembered for starring in two popular western TV series of the era, The Range Rider and Yancy Derringer, and for playing Tarzan in two feature films. In all, he appeared in 64 Hollywood movies.

Jock Mahoney was one of Loretta's most popular co-stars. He died of a stroke two days after being involved in an automobile accident in Bremerton, Washington at the age of 70. His ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean.

Trivia facts: The 1978 film Hooper, starring Sally Field, Burt Reynolds and Brian Keith, was based on Jock Mahoney's life. Mahoney and Sally Field were related by marriage. Mahoney's second wife, actress Margaret Field, was Sally Field's mother.
