What began as a vision of the mountain railway pioneer Riggenbach has now developed into a true mountain railway paradise. The Rigi Railways carry passengers up the Rigi to breathtaking experiences for young and old.
Indeed the first train in Europe was the cog railway from Vitznau to Rigi Staffelhöhe. Even today, the legendary steam locomotive No. 7 is put back into operation on special occasions. The line can also claim fame in being the highest standard gauge railway in Europe
