Amidst the gentle rustle of anticipation and the warm glow of festive lights, the halls of Dr. Menon's Palliative Care radiated with an extra layer of excitement on November 10, 2023. At the heart of this celebration was the joyous convergence of generations, as seniors welcomed a spirited group of children from Ovala Village. The occasion was none other than our Diwali party, harmoniously coinciding with the auspicious Dhanteras. This year, the festival of lights at our care centre was elevated by the presence of these young souls, promising an evening of shared joy, cultural festivities, and heartfelt connections.
The children, seniors, and our hardworking staff all joined in the celebration of the festival, which marks the return of Lord Rama and the victory of good over evil. To light the spark of joy and happiness in the lives we touch was the ultimate goal. The celebrations began with a heartfelt Ganesh Vandana performed by Prachi Kulkarni, who happens to be one of our beloved residents' daughter.
A collaborative diya-making exercise that brought the elderly and children together to create lights was the highlight of the celebration. In order to promote a feeling of unity, our kind staff helped ignite the lamps. A spiritual touch was added to the occasion when several of our patients and in-house staff performed bhajans in harmony.
Ganesh Aarti and Dhanwantri Pooja, which represent blessings and good health for everyone, marked the continuation of the festivities. Our seniors showered the staff and the kids with new clothes and delicious boxes as a heartfelt way of sharing their blessings. The kids added even more energy to the celebrations when they performed folk dances like Koli Dance and Lavni. They were well-rehearsed and full of energy.
As everyone took part in fireworks, which stand for the victory of light over darkness, the happiness peaked. We all celebrated the spirit of Diwali together, and the evening ended with a fantastic dinner that was the ideal way to cap off a night full of pure love and bliss.
