Battmann was a French organist and composer during the 19th century. He was born in Masevaux (Masminschter) in Southern Alsace, and he became organist in Belfort in 1840, and subsequently in Vesoul. His final organist position was in Dijon, where he also passed away. Battmann left choral and instrumental compositions; of the latter, most of them are written for either harmonium or organ. This offertory is a good example of his style of writing. It is marked Moderato and represents the No. 5 in his "Les Organistes Contemporains". Instrument: Johannus Monarke "Breughel".
