Carrozzeria Ghia Evolution (1916 - 2001)

Carrozzeria Ghia was founded in 1915 in Turin, Italy, by Giacinto Ghia. It began as a coachbuilder crafting elegant custom bodies for luxury cars. After World War II, Ghia became famous for its sleek, modern designs—often blending Italian style with American engineering.

In the 1950s, Ghia created iconic show cars for Chrysler, such as the K-310 and the Dual-Ghia, beloved by Hollywood stars. The company also collaborated with Volkswagen, leading to the Karmann Ghia coupe and convertible.

Ghia changed hands several times, eventually being acquired by Ford in 1970. Under Ford, “Ghia” became a trim level denoting luxury rather than a design house.

Though the workshop itself closed in the early 2000s, its legacy lives on as a symbol of Italian design excellence and cross-continental automotive artistry.
