Carrozzeria Bertone Evolution (1912 - 2024)

Carrozzeria Bertone was an iconic Italian automobile design and manufacturing company. Founded in 1912 by Giovanni Bertone, it initially started as a coachbuilder, crafting custom bodywork for cars. However, it gained prominence in the automotive world during the mid-20th century under the leadership of Giovanni's son, Nuccio Bertone.

Bertone became renowned for its collaboration with various automakers, including Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lamborghini, and others. They produced some of the most striking and influential car designs of their time, such as the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, Lamborghini Miura, and Lancia Stratos.

One of Bertone's notable contributions was its role in shaping the concept car scene. The company was responsible for creating numerous concept vehicles that pushed the boundaries of automotive design and technology.

Despite its historic contributions and reputation for avant-garde designs, Carrozzeria Bertone faced financial difficulties in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It declared bankruptcy in 2014, marking the end of an era for one of Italy's most storied automotive design houses.

In June 2016, the Bertone brand was acquired by AKKA Technologies, an engineering company active in the automotive, railway, and aerospace sectors, for €6 million (incl. tax). At the time, AKKA was owned by brothers Mauro and Jean-Franck Ricci.

Later, as part of a €20 million combination transaction, the brand was bought back by its previous owners when AKKA was sold to Adecco. In 2022, Mauro and Jean-Franck Ricci revived the Bertone brand, marking a significant return to the automotive industry. The first in a series of limited-edition vehicles, the GB110, was officially unveiled in December 2022.
