Hilary Davidson presents "Reconstructing the Past: Physical and Digital Paths to Fashion History Futures" at the "New Directions in Fashion Research Symposium" held on April 5, 2024 in NYC. This recording includes Q&A with the audience and another symposium speaker, Ben Barry.
The symposium focused on new avenues of study in the interdisciplinary field of fashion. Scholars, curators, and collectors explored topics such as practice-based research, collecting practices, theories and methodologies, and the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in fashion education.
Hilary Davidson, a dress historian, curator, and archaeologist, is chair of Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice at FIT. She has consulted, lectured, and broadcast internationally across a wide range of expertise in her fields, especially historic clothing reconstruction. Her most recent book is "Jane Austen’s Wardrobe."
