Orogen Royalties is an emerging precious metals royalty company. This video discusses our royalty on the Silicon property near Beatty Nevada.
In 2014, Orogen made an early stage, greenfield exploration investment that gave it a key royalty stake in Nevada’s newest and largest gold rush occurring now near the town of Beatty in southwestern Nevada.
This area, which should help sustain Nevada’s position as the dominant gold-producing state in the country, is the subject of intensive on-going exploration drilling by a number of companies.
The exploration excitement is being driven by five significant gold discoveries made in the last four years along a newly defined north-south trending belt at least 6 kilometers long.
From north to south, these discoveries include the Central Silicon zone, being drilled by AngloGold Ashanti, the Merlin zone, also being drilled by AngloGold Ashanti, the Lynnda Strip zone, drilled by Corvus Gold, the C-Horst zone, being drilled by Coeur Mining, and the Mother Lode zone, also drilled by Corvus Gold.
In 2021, Anglogold Ashanti announced they would acquire Corvus Gold for a total equity value of approximately US$450 million.
Total reported production and resources for the greater Beatty area are now more than 8 million ounces gold, not including resource estimates by AngloGold at Silicon or Merlin, Coeur Mining at C-Horst or Corvus at Lynnda Strip Exploration work by AngloGold is ongoing to delineate the ore bodies at both Silicon and Merlin in greater detail. AngloGold’s conceptual development plan for the district envisions North Bullfrog being developed first, with production to start between 2024 and 2025, followed by Silicon and Merlin, including Lynnda Strip.
Orogen holds a 1% net smelter royalty on the northern half of the 6 kilometer long gold belt, which is covered by AngloGold Ashanti’s Silicon property, 58 square kilometers in size. AngloGold is in the enviable position of having two separate gold discoveries on their property, one in the central portion, termed central Silicon, and one near the southern margin, Merlin. Both of these zones are the subject of intensive on-going drilling programs.
Widespread hot-springs-style alteration at the surface suggests that concealed gold mineralization could occur over a large area, and in fact, mineralization may be continuous between the central Silicon and Merlin zones, a distance of three kilometers.
Widespread surface evidence of hydrothermal alteration and encouraging drilling results suggest excellent potential for meaningful gold resource within Orogen’s royalty boundary.
