1000 year old SUPERNOVA remnant in Taurus | Messier 1 CRAB NEBULA | | Astrophotography & Observing

Messier 1 the crab nebula is the ramaing gasses of an 1000 year old exploded Supernova in the constelllation in Taurus, the bull. It is at a distance of 6500ly from us and appeared in 1054 as a guest star visible in the daylight, now the remains are a gaseous cloud 6 x 4 arc mins in size and 8.4 magnitude. This is a great target for winter observers, placed high up in the northern hemisphere sky, it can been seen with great detail when the sky is good, but can be underwhelming in poor conditions.

Visual observing M1 is easy once you locate it and rewarding with this target as it is a great test of seeing conditions, and you can really tease out detail as you get familiar with it over the winter months of this 1000 year old SUPERNOVA remnant in Taurus

I hope that these videos can give you an idea of how the night sky can look at the eyepiece of a 200 PDS, 200p, 300p flextube or any 200mm 8 inch or 300mm 12 inch reflector telescope and using a DSLR or Mirrorless camera. I find when trying to purchase a telescope, it is hard to find out what you can see through the eyepiece .
