The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan have agreed to sign a formal agreement on pre-immigration clearance for Pakistani nationals traveling to the Gulf country, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior on Tuesday.
The decision was taken during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a UAE delegation led by Director General of Customs and Port Security, Ahmed Bin Lahij Al Falasi. Under the proposed system, immigration procedures for passengers will be completed in Pakistan before departure, allowing travelers to bypass immigration checks upon arrival in the UAE.
Minister Naqvi stated that Pakistani passengers will be able to exit UAE airports directly, similar to domestic travelers. The system will be launched initially as a pilot project, with the first phase starting in Karachi. No specific timeline for implementation was announced.
Both sides expressed optimism that the initiative will facilitate travel, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall travel experience. The UAE delegation assured full cooperation, describing the move as beneficial for both countries.
