I discovered the Casio "Duro" MDV-106 almost by mistake. They had one at Walmart on closeout and I wasn't thinking about buying it because I usually prefer digital watches. But the price was unbeatable at only about $13. Once I wore the watch I was surprised by how much I really liked it. And then I discovered there were other colors out there and, even at the full price of about $50, it was a good value. So I started a small collection. But the one color I couldn't find at a reasonable price was an older, discontinued version with a white, pearl-like color on the face. Oh, well. You can't have everything.
Then, to my surprise, Casio released some new color options in 2025 for the newer MDV-107 version of the Duro. And, YES, they were selling one with that white, pearl-like face. I couldn't find it for sale through my normal shopping sites but Creation Watches out of Singapore had the watch at a reasonable price so... the rest is history. My shopping experience was good. The watch arrived about 2 or 3 weeks after I ordered it.
The only real difference between the MDV-107 and the older MDV-106 is that the 107 doesn't have a picture of a fish on it. The 106 is often called "The Marlin" by watch enthusiasts because of that fish, which appears on the face and is engraved onto the back cover of the watch case. Also, the 107 appears to be intended for an international market while the 106 (complete with the fish) is still available in the year 2025 in the USA market through Casio's website and other retailers.
This is a three-hand analog quartz watch with a date window at the 3:00 position. It's an all-metal case and this one also came with the metal bracelet (although some variations come with resin straps). It has a uni-directional rotating bezel which clicks 120 times to make a full revolution around the face. The case features a screw-down back and a screw-down crown offering 200-meter water resistance which, to be realistic, is far more than is necessary for almost anyone who has one of these things. (If you're going diving below 50 meters you're going to have a whole bunch of high-end diving gear and you're not going to bring a sub-$100 watch down into the depths. Honestly!)
I also recently made a video about other 2025 versions of the MDV-107 and you can watch that video here: • FOUR New Colors of the Casio Duro MDV-107 ...
