Lancaster Area Woodturners club demo October 7 2025 features club member John Kelsey and a deep dive into turned boxes that snap closed with concealed magnets. Four demos, three useful jigs, on a slideshow background. Video from LAW monthly hybrid-format club meeting, New Holland PA. .
Demos include
--box templates and drawing for woodturning,
--designing the hidden magnet box using rings and rings with flanges to hide the magnets and conceal their own glue lines.
--Turning a sliding fit for box lids and bodies.
--Managing small rare-earth magnets, boring for magnets, gluing with CA - baking soda mix.
--turning the final box shape
Drill press jigs include vee jig for boring radially in turned cylinders, right-angle jig for boring on the face of a turned circle. Also 10-point indexing wheel for the lathe.
