Since the start of the winter timetable, two days prior to this video, the six remaining three car Class 117's were cut to two car units and coupled into pairs to try and keep to the new Class 158 timed Fife Circle services. 117306 and 117308 depart Kirkcaldy with the 06.22 Edinburgh-Edinburgh in their new formation.
The following service, the 07.50 Kirkcaldy-Edinburgh arrives with 117311 and 117301 which I took to Edinburgh.
Also starting with the new timetable was Scotrail's revised Glasgow to Edinburgh services which were now every 15 minutes and were due to be worked by a fleet of 24 new Class 170 'Turbostars' but due to late delivery only two were in service for the new timetable launch one of which, 170402 is seen departing Glasgow Queen Street with the 10.15 to Edinburgh. A short while later 170401 arrived with the 09.30 from Edinburgh with 158729 tagged on the back.
A trip to Glasgow Central starts with 47634 backing onto the coaches for the 10.16 Glasgow-Poole in order to release 86222 which had arrived with the 06.55 from Birmingham New Street and was needed to work the Poole service as the loco for that train, 86226, had failed at Polmadie !!.
101693 departs with the 12.08 to Paisley Canal and I headed for Whifflet aboard 101690 which was on the 12.43 from Glasgow Central. Upon arrival the unit sits at Mossend Yard before returning to Central as 101690 did at 13.37. The next Glasgow bound train was operated by 101695 at 14.07 and was followed by the uniquely liveried 101692 which is seen running to Mossend Yard having arrived with the 13.43 Glasgow Central Whifflet.
Finally, 158722 and 170401 depart a wet Edinburgh Waverley with the 16.30 to Glasgow.
I managed to travel on the entire Scotrail Class 170 fleet in one day...both of them !!
