This is video of the CP Rail mainline at the entrance to the Canadian Rockies west of Calgary, Alberta, on the Laggan Sub, back in the 1990's. Freight traffic is lighter than on the CN mainline through Jasper, back then, and also today. There is an interesting mix of older and newer locomotives in these videos. Expect about 22 to 24 trains in a 24 hour period. This was the same back in the 1990's, but today the trains are longer. The most I have seen on the Laggan Sub. is 28 trains in 24 hours. The really interesting part of this video is at the very end, where the east switch at Cochrane, Alberta, is highlighted. This was before the massive suburban sprawl of today had occurred.
