Welcome to the latest episode of my journey to the London Marathon 2024! As I aim for a sub-4-hour finish using the Runna 16-week marathon training plan, each week brings its unique set of trials and triumphs.
In this week's update, I'll cover what the 4th week of marathin training had in store. However, it's not all smooth sailing. I've encountered an old injury that i hoped was permanently behind me, and a common hurdle among runners - the onset of shin splints. This video delves into how this has affected my ability to train and the steps I'm taking to manage this challenge.
Amidst these struggles, there was a surprising highlight. I achieved an unexpected PB at the Wolverhampton Parkrun, finishing in a time of 21:46. This wasn't just any ordinary run; it was one where I knocked a whole 12 seconds off my previous best, a feat that left me exhilarated and more motivated than ever.
As I look forward to week 5, there's a mix of anticipation and hope. The goal is to allow my shins to recover while maintaining the momentum of my training. Every step brings me closer to the streets of London, where I will put all this training to the test.
