Ancient Borough Market in Southwark, South London, is still going strong but now as a retail market hall with excellent restaurants, bars and shops for locals and the many tourists. The transformation to reinvent itself started late 80s as business declined due to competition from supermarkets. These photos taken over a couple of days in 1987 capture the wonderful atmosphere and camaraderie not long before the change.
