Tesla Model Y Gen 1.0 to 2.0 Center Console Retrofit Upgrade - Part 2 [FIX SENTRY MODE & DASHCAM]

This is a follow up to our first video where we did the Gen 1.0 to Gen 2.0 retrofit upgrade to our 2020 Tesla Model Y. There was a pretty significant hiccup that prevented us from using Sentry Mode and Dashcam in our Tesla. That's a huge dealbreaker!

The problem is that gen 1.0 center consoles have the data port in the center console when you lift up the charge plate. Tesla eventually moved the port into the glove box when they introduced the gen 2.0 center consoles.

Thus if you do this retrofit, you aren't able to use the gen 2.0 USB hub since the 2x USB-C plugs are only for charging. No data passes through those ports.

If you try to take the gen 1.0 controller and install it onto the gen 2.0 console, you'll run into some issues that prevent it from happening. This this video, we explore the solution as well as a bonus at the end for a clever solution to a pretty annoying problem!
