2021 marks the 70th Anniversary of The Canadian Institute of Food Technologists (CIFST). To kick off the celebrations, we are introducing a series of short, weekly videos, commemorating the history of processed foods. Each video will share with you a fun vintage commercial. Tune in each week for another entertaining Time Capsule.
A bit about CIFST's history:
The Canadian Institute of Food Technologists was formed in Winnipeg on June 19th, 1951 for the purpose of forming a national association by the Montreal and Manitoba groups. In 1952, a Toronto section joined the Institute, and would be the last section to join for the next eight years. By the end of 1952, the Institute had 236 members. The membership fee was $1.50!
CIFST Today:
CIFST's membership of approximately 1,000 individuals is comprised of scientists and technologists in industry, government and academia who are committed to advancing food science and technology. The purpose of CIFST is to advocate and promote the quality, safety and wholesomeness of the food supply through the application of science and technology by linking food science professionals from industry, government and academia.
