Africans Are Celebrating This Man’s Death | LNN

On August 3, 2025, American trophy hunter Asher Watkins was killed by a Cape buffalo during a safari in Limpopo, South Africa. For hunters it was a tragedy. For many Africans, it was justice.

Watkins was part of a long tradition of wealthy foreigners flying in to kill Africa’s most majestic animals. He posed with lions, elephants, and buffalo as trophies. But in one moment, the hunter became the hunted.

Across Africa, his death is being celebrated , not mourned. To many, it is nature reclaiming itself and a reminder that Africa is no longer silent about exploitation.
