“Medicare is really starting to incentivize home dialysis,” Osman Khawar, CEO of Diality, outlined in an interview. “We first saw this in 2019 with the advancing American Kidney Health Initiative. What that kicked off are two models that are really driving toward home dialysis. One is called CKCC, which starts next year and is a voluntary model. This is the first time that a large swath of the US healthcare industry in the renal space can take a risk on the total cost of care.”
In an interview with Joe Mullings, Chairman of TMG360 Media, Khawar explained how healthcare providers in the dialysis space can now focus on where care is taking place, how it is taking place, and how much it costs due to the new models pushing toward home dialysis.
Khawar also discussed how home dialysis improves patients’ quality of life, reduces hospitalizations, and drives innovative delivery models of care like population health management.
