Visiting Anatoki Salmon, in the beautiful Golden Bay left End Of road Series 06 1080

We are in Takaka, Golden bay and decide to overnight in the nearby Anatoki Salmon carpark. Waking up to a glorious day we discovered that Anatoki Salmon is much more than a fish shop and café.

It is a great place for a family to spend a few hours, whatever age you are. From; coffee and food at the café, kids fun zone, bush and river walks, Kunekune pigs and tame eels to feed, through to “catch your own salmon” in the fishing lake.

In front of the café is the farms salmon growing ponds, which you can walk around and read the information boards explaining the life-cycle of the salmon. And if you are not into fishing they sell, salmon fillets and smoked salmon.

Their “catch your own salmon” is a fun way to get good reasonably priced fish for your table. They provide the rods, reels, bait and landing net, point you to the best place to catch salmon, then when you came back with your catch, they clean it and either fillet or smoke it all for less than what it normally is in our local supermarket.
