The final chapter of our cinematic journey across Canada follows the last golden hours of The Canadian as it leaves the Rockies behind, gliding through Alberta’s foothills beneath a swelling sunset. This transitional terrain, where mountain shadows stretch over rolling plains, ushers us gently out of the grandeur of the Rockies and toward the quiet edge of the continent.

As the train winds west into Vancouver by morning, the pace shifts. The vast landscapes we’ve crossed contract into city streets and station platforms. But the story doesn’t end there.

From the window of the return flight, the immensity of Canada unfolds once more, this time in reverse and from above. What was lived moment by moment becomes a single breathtaking panorama. Mountains, rivers, and prairies now blur into memory, and with this new vantage comes a shift in perception. We are reminded that every journey continues inward.

This episode is scored with live music from the Sturgeon Moon ANTENNAE, recorded at NOMAD under the luminous gaze of August’s full moon. The music, born of that electric night, fuses ancestral resonance with lunar intuition, echoing through foothills, clouds, and the timeless sky.

The soundscape was shaped by David Bednarczyk, whose live sound mixing and recording gave structure to the flow. Jason Rodi led the ensemble from the piano, steel tongue drums, harmonica, and organ, channelling the lunar pull with meditative grace. Dan Handelman added textured melodies on guitar, while Karina Marquez Caballero’s luminous vocals, joined by her son Kanan Poch Marquez on guitar, brought warmth and familial depth. Shiloh Gagnon made her first appearance with a grounded, soulful vocal tone, joined by Patrice Dauphin, whose voice carried the wisdom of return. Justin Reid, now a permanent member of the group, anchored the band on bass. Dual drummers Josh Kauffman and Eric Cohen energized the rhythm in dialogue, with Eric Campbell enriching the harmonic field on keys and vocals. Adam Sand’s electric guitar shimmered like stars breaking through twilight. Christina Gavino grounded the atmosphere with her cello, while Emilie Tremblay and Benoît Adam sent echoes through the air on saxophone.
