Have you been in your daylily garden and noticed a small, plant-like growth protruding from the scape of certain daylilies? If you wondered what it was, you are not alone. We get lots of calls asking the very same question.

That growth is called a proliferation.

Whether or not a plant has proliferations depends on the variety. Some daylilies proliferate nearly every year, but most daylilies never do.

Plants have genes and genetic codes just like people and animals. Without getting too "plant science-y"), a proliferation is more than just a free plant—it's an exact genetic copy of the mother plant.

When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger — two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and produce more blooms quicker.

All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.
