Day 307 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music every day!
This video is a slow swing arrangement of "Angel Eyes" by John Hiatt and Fred Koller. This arrangement can be found in Hal Leonard's collection: "Jazz Piano Solos: Late Night Jazz".
This is a very languorous arrangement of a VERY pretty song! It has sections of swing, contrasted with sections of straight eighth notes. The piece is decorated with some challenging piano fills and interesting rhythms. (Every kind of quarter note subdivision you can find!!).
It was fun to play and discover where the arranger hid some of the melody lines, and then work on bringing those out!
