Public Meeting for SAC 51 (Business 80/ Capital City Freeway) American River Bridge Deck Project

Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 guidelines regarding public gatherings, Caltrans produced this video in lieu of hosting an in-person public meeting. The video provides a summary of the proposed State Route 51 (Business 80/ Capital City Freeway) American River Bridge Deck Replacement Project in Sacramento County. The scope of the proposed project includes: remove and replace existing concrete deck; widen bridge to accommodate traffic during construction; add bike path from levee to levee. The purpose of the proposed project is to repair, protect and extend the surface life of the deck and bridge. The project is necessary due to the bridge deteriorating due to age, concrete spalling and cracks in bridge deck.
