way back when i started this, I was actually just recreating the instrumental to practice doing sound design in vital, but later on i was having such a hard time working on the other covers i had already started that i decided to make this one into a full cover since i already enjoyed listening to it enough to study it. def learned a lot from mixing this one, it's always different when i've got all the stems at my fingertips.

tuning anri lite was a bit of a struggle, but ever since i learned that overwriting files of the same name makes updating files in reaper super fast i've been having a way better time bouncing between synthv studio and reaper, meaning it's way easier to do a first pass of tuning and then go back to improve it after i've already started mixing. i still feel like there's a bit of a quality difference between the vocals i tuned early on and the vocals i tuned once i was almost done, but that's just how warming up works i guess! i take such a long time not tuning whenever i make these that every time i need to do it again it feels like i have to relearn how to lowkey.

really happy with this art; doing the butcher vanity rd level made me remember that i can do pixel art, and even though my first pass of the art sucked absolute ass ive been embracing just starting over when sth is not turning out rather than pushing through and polishing it when I don't even like it much. good thing too, because this second pass turned out way better.

anyways i think everyone in the whole world should listen to crj's album emotion it literally has an unparalleled grip on me. this is for sure not the only cover i'm gonna make, i already recreated a different inst from that album so it's only a matter of time before i buckle down and tune vocals for that one too (though i've finally broken free of the reticence to work on my other covers so those will be out first unless my art block comes back in which case crj will swoop in to save me)
