What if 2D animators who work with Spine had access to advanced optimization tools?
Recently, I’ve been experimenting with different algorithms to see how far we can go in optimizing animation data without losing visual quality.
One of the methods I tested is the Ramer–Douglas–Peucker (RDP) algorithm — commonly used to simplify lines and curves by approximating them with fewer points while preserving their essential structure. For these experiments, I built a node-based system that can be easily scaled for similar optimization tests in the future.
🎥 In the video, you can see several test files before and after the optimization process.
