Benalmádena is a town on southern Spain's Costa del Sol, known for its beaches and Tivoli World theme park. The modern Puerto Marina is home to the Sea Life Benalmádena aquarium and moored yachts. In the traditional Andalusian old town lie the Castillo Monumento Colomares, a castle-style monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus and his discovery of America, and the Benalmádena Stupa, a large Buddhist temple.

Benalmádena (Spanish pronunciation: [benalˈmaðena]) is a town in Andalusia in southern Spain, 12 km west of Málaga, on the Costa del Sol between Torremolinos and Fuengirola.

Benalmádena is rich in attractive beaches and interesting places like the Colomares Castle, the 33-metre-tall Buddhist Benalmádena Stupa, the largest Buddhist stupa in Europe, the Benalmádena Marina and the Benalmádena Cable Car.

With 1,100 moorings for boats of all nationalities and up to 6 meters long, Benalmadena Port – 'Puerto Marina' is one of the Costa del Sol's busiest centres by day and night. For the energetic, the nightlife carries on in sophisticated bars and clubs.

Construction of the marina began on November 12, 1972. The Benalmádena Marina was originally inaugurated in 1979 under the name “Puerto Príncipe”, which translates to the “Prince's Marina”. It was then renamed to Puerto Marina in 1982.

The port of Benalmadena is a real gem architectural blend of Arabic and Andalusian styles. Shops, restaurants and nightlife are mixed in one of the most important leisure areas of the Costa del Sol.

This port, the Marina of Benalmádena, located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, is one of the most beautiful and emblematic of the Andalusian coast. It opened in 1979 with an original and modern design, a mixture of Spanish and Moorish styles that soon gained global recognition and the nickname of “the Andalusian Venice”.

This port has twice received the award for “Best Puerto del Mundo”. It receives an average of 7 million visitors a year, featuring much of the leisure and water sports in Benalmadena, which is something not surprising, since it offers a very wide range of activities and entertainment, and feature sailing schools, dive shops, restaurants, luxury residences and even the Sealife Aquarium. It also offers a large number of stores and shopping centers making it ideal for walking and shopping.
