V.C.P.S Live Program February 2023. In celebration of Black History month, the meeting February 6th, took a look at African American subjects on United States postage stamps. The program highlighted some of the individuals, events, accomplishments and contributions that make up the Black American Legacy.
Some of the topics included were Black Heritage #45, Edmona Lewis, Black Heritage #46, Ernest J. Gains, A Snowy Day, Booker T. Washington, Who was he? And why was he chosen to be the first African American on United States postage stamps?
Other topics presented were African American athletes, the Negro Leagues, Civil Rights sub themes of the "March on Washington", and sub theme "Brown vs. Board of Education". Slides were also Shown of Black artists and musicians as well as stamps commemorating The Harlem Renaissance. Concluding with a dazzling display of stamps celebrating the holiday tradition, Kwanzaa
