►Read here: Chopping is a different rhythm. It is calm, patient, and built on reading the ball. It demands perfect footwork and perfect touch. This style is beautiful to watch, but very few players can reach the top with it. Modern table tennis is fast. The sport has moved toward power and speed. Choppers are almost extinct in the world scene.
Hou Yingchao is the perfect example of why choppers are so dangerous. He kept training quietly. He kept perfecting his reading of spin. One year later, he returned to the 2019 All China Championships at almost forty. He beat Wang Chuqin 4 to 0 in the final and became the oldest champion in the history of the tournament. This shows how difficult it is to beat a master chopper.
