There are many ways to hand dye a gradient yarn. You can create a knit blank (a piece of fabric you unravel) or you can wind multiple connected miniskeins. Today, I'm going to try to wind a super wide skein of yarn so we can dip dye it into some Jacquard acid dyes to create a yarn gradient. We will dye 100 g of KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Worsted weight yarn - 100% Peruvian Highland Wool http://shrsl.com/130mj (Affiliate Link). You don't need to have a niddy noddy to do this, you can use the back of a chair, a box, or any other ridged item to wind this skein. The results turned out even better than I could have hoped!
I was inspired by one of the pictures in this blog post: http://www.creweltech.com/?p=334
