"Калинка (Kalinka) English: Viburnum" is a Russian and Soviet Folk song written by composer, writer and folklorist Ivan Petrovich Larionov (Иван Петрович Ларионов) in 1860. The song was first performed on an amateur stage in Saratov in a play for which he wrote the music. And soon at the request of the famous singer and creator of the folk song choir Agrenev-Slavyansky, Larionov put this song into the choir's repertoire. So the popularity of the "Kalinka" song began with the Slavyansky Choir. This song was not very popular at the beginning of the Soviet Union, but became famous when Professor Alexander Vasilyevich Aleksandrov (Александр Васильевич Александров) rearrange the song. The song became famous wider than before. This is RARE RECORDING. This version is the version sung by Viktor Nikitin (Виктор Никитин) in Prague at the Peace Concert in 1946.
