J-values... tell you the KIND of relationship between two groups...
...like, say: "this H is bound to this C DIRECTLY"... or "this H is trans to this other H" or "these two H's are bound to the same sp2 C"...
...as long as you have a rough feel for typical J-value ranges.
Extracting the J's from a spectra is its own complicated process... but this video is about knowing what you're looking at... and exploring J's within the context of ethyl vinyl ether.
