महात्मा गांधी के नाम पर पार्लियामेंट में जमकर हंगामा हुआ. कृषि मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने लोकसभा में मनरेगा की जगह नई स्कीम का बिल पेश किया. मोदी सरकार ग्रामीण इलाकों में रोजगार गारंटी के लिए जो नई स्कीम लाई है उसका नाम है विकसित भारत-गारंटी फॉर रोजगार एंड आजीविका मिशन ग्रामीण. इसका शॉर्ट फॉर्म है- विकसित भारत जी राम जी. पहले कांग्रेस की सरकार जो योजना लाई थी, उसका नाम था. महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोजगार गारंटी योजना मनरेगा, नरेन्द्र मोदी की सरकार ने योजना के नाम में महात्मा गांधी की जगह राम जी का नाम इस्तेमाल कर दिया, बस यही बात विपक्ष को बुरी लग गई.

There was a huge uproar in Parliament over the name of Mahatma Gandhi. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) with a new scheme. The new scheme that the Modi government has introduced for employment guarantee in rural areas is called Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural. Its short form is Viksit Bharat G-RAM Ji. The scheme introduced by the previous Congress government was called the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). The Narendra Modi government replaced Mahatma Gandhi's name with "Ram Ji" in the name of the scheme, and this is what angered the opposition.
