Scenes filmed here in January 2003, before the arrival of the tram, have long since disappeared. The Oldham Loop was a suburban railway line in Greater Manchester, branching from the main line between Manchester and Rochdale. It passed through Newton Heath, Hollinwood, Oldham Werneth, Oldham Mumps, Derker, and Shaw & Crompton, before rejoining the main line at Rochdale—hence its name. When the tram network replaced the railway, much of the old trackbed was reused but a completely new alignment was created through Oldham town centre. The route then reconnects with the former railway formation north of Mumps.
