Manang to Yak Kharka via Gusang | 2 September 2025

Day 5 of my solo unguided trek to Thorong La Pass takes me from Manang to Yak Kharka (4020m) via Gusang, officially entering pure high-altitude trekking terrain. There are no motorable roads on this stretch — though cyclists do ride all the way up to Thorong La Pass.

At Gusang, I met Girish ‪@Motaacycle‬ an Indian engineer-turned-nomad who has been cycling across India and Nepal for over 3 years. Along the way, spotted Himalayan tahrs, horses grazing freely, and enjoyed increasingly dramatic Annapurna views beyond 4000 meters.
