28:58 Establishing confidence in use of data from the DNT in vitro Battery (DNT-IVB), Timothy J Shafer, US Environmental Protection Agency
1:03:52 Application of the DNT-IVB within integrated approaches to testing and assessment (IATA), Iris Mangas, European Food Safety Authority
This first session sets the stage for a four-part online training, consisting of pre-recorded presentations, designed to support regulators, scientists and stakeholders in understanding and applying the DNT-IVB. It begins with a concise overview of the series’ goals, structure, and intended audience, followed by an introduction to the DNT-IVB itself and the biological principles that underpin it.
You’ll learn how data from the full battery contributes to evaluating the developmental neurotoxicity potential of chemical substances. The session also explores how the DNT-IVB meets confidence criteria for regulatory use within the framework of Integrated Approaches to Testing and Assessment (IATA).
To deepen understanding, we introduce key concepts from the IATA framework for DNT, including the Weight and Integration of Evidence (WoE) approach. You’ll also get a preview of case studies, based on DNT-IVB data that will be explored in detail in Session 2.
Finally, the session covers updates on assay transferability and highlights future directions in the field.
Whether you're new to DNT-IVB or looking to strengthen your regulatory toolkit, this session offers an informative starting point.
