Posture, slouch couch and dreadnoughts

This is my advice about playing guitars at home. I've seen lots of comments on the AGF, UMGF etc., about folk with shoulder problems, and feeling the need to give up on their dreadnoughts.
Couch slouching with a dreadnought tends to pull your right shoulder away from the joint and sooner or later this causes problems.
The depth of my dreadnought body is 4 &7/8" and my 000 is 4 & 1/8" - that is still quite a lot of displacement of the shoulder joint.
So, why not avoid the sofa and use a sensible chair that enables you to play with a straight back, and with your guitar resting on you upper leg parallel to the floor.
THINK POSTURE! - if it hurts - you are doing it wrong!
I hope this helps.
