Do you expect the worst of a problem? Do you set your expectations low of any issue you come across?
You don’t trust the world to look out for you so you become cynical. You spend way more time protecting your status, your possessions or your reputation. Your mindset is in a state where you expect people to betray you so that you are not hurt if it does happen.
