What's causing Germany's looming #electricitycrisis you may ask..?
Well the answer is complicated, but in this video I speak about some basic concerns that contribute to the electricity in Germany becoming seemingly scares.

☀️ Solar and wind have grown rapidly in Germany. But sun and wind are intermittent sources. When they don't generate enough electricity, what do we do?

🔋 Germany is phasing out nuclear power ...but nuclear provided stable baseload power. Replacing it with #renewables hasn't been easy.... has it?

💡 Demand for electricity is rising but grid infrastructure hasn't kept pace with demand growth.

📈 Wholesale electricity prices in Germany have skyrocketed compared to 2021. High gas prices are passed through to consumers. Energy poverty is a growing concern.

🌆 To avoid blackouts, Germany is restarting coal power plants, showing the difficulty of phasing out reliable baseload power.

The potential impacts are sobering. Manufacturers and other companies may be forced to halt production ...households struggle with the high cost of electricity, as all of these issues deal a blow to the #economy

Is the #energytransition coming at the expense of reliability and affordability.?

Don´t people deserve an electricity system they can depend on?
