✨ Vadakara – Kuttiady – Nadapuram Side Ada Recipe ✨
A traditional snack wrapped in banana leaf, filled with spicy coconut mulak podichath masala! 🌿🔥
From Vadakara to Kuttiady and Nadapuram, this Ada is loved for its aroma, taste, and nostalgic flavor. 💛
📌 Ingredients (for ~25 adas):
For Coconut Mulak Podichath (Chammanthi):
Grated coconut – 3 cups
Perumjeerakam (fennel seeds) – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Chilli powder – 3 tsp
Salt – as needed
👉 Grind coarsely, not smooth.
For Masala Mix:
Onion – ½ medium (chopped)
Tomato – ½ medium (chopped)
Green chilli – 8–10 (as per spice level)
Curry leaves – generous handful
👉 Sauté lightly, then mix with coconut chammanthi.
For Ada Dough:
Rice flour (or soaked Ponni rice ground smooth) – 3 cups
Hot water (finger-touch bearable) – 4½ cups
Salt – as needed
Coconut oil – for greasing banana leaf & hands
Banana leaves – cut
🕒 Method:
Prepare coconut mulak podichath chammanthi.
Sauté onion, tomato, green chilli, curry leaves and mix with chammanthi.
Make smooth dough by mixing rice flour with hot water & salt.
Grease banana leaf with coconut oil.
Spread dough, add masala filling, fold into Ada shape.
Steam for 15–18 minutes until cooked.
👉 This recipe makes about 25+ adas!
