This video is part 5 in a series of videos showing my favorite ways to record drums with low microphone & channel counts. I'm going to explore a variety of mic types, combinations and placement techniques that will help you get a better drum sound no matter what gear you have.
This particular video explains how I would go about recording drums with only 2 microphones. Similar to the "2 SM57" video, this video used similar positioning but I choose the actual microphones I'd use to show how good this technique can end up sounding. This is a great option for people who may only have 2 channels on their interface but still have a great selection of mics to choose from. I also show both the dry (unmixed) and processed (mixed) sound to give a better idea of what this combination sounds like as well as how good it can sound in a mix.
This video is great for anyone looking to record drums, improve the quality of their audio, or learn a new way to produce drums in general. Please comment if you enjoyed the video or have any questions about drum recording and I'll be happy to help!
