3 Point Lighting

Three-point lighting is a standard technique used in photography, film, and theater to create a balanced and visually appealing illumination of a subject. It consists of three main light sources:

Key Light: This is the primary light source and is usually the strongest. It is positioned to one side of the subject to create depth and dimension. The key light casts the most noticeable shadows and defines the overall look.

Fill Light: The fill light is softer and less intense than the key light. It’s placed opposite the key light, helping to reduce harsh shadows created by the key. The fill light adds detail to the shadowed side of the subject, ensuring it doesn’t become too dark while maintaining some contrast.

Back Light (or Rim Light): Positioned behind the subject, the back light creates separation between the subject and the background. It adds a highlight around the edges of the subject, which helps to define their shape and adds a sense of depth.

By adjusting the intensity and position of these lights, you can create various moods and effects, making three-point lighting a versatile and widely used technique.
