This recap lists all the songs that were performed first in the competitions. For the years that had semi-finals, the songs that were performed first in the first semi-final are listed.
There were three occasions when an opening entry finished 1st in the competition. They were "Ding-a-dong" for the Netherlands in 1975, "Save Your Kisses for Me" for United Kingdom in 1976, and "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley" for Sweden in 1984.
