This is my first video in my verse by verse series on The Book of Revelation. I love the study of end times theology and eschatology and hope that some of you do too! The word "revelation" means an unveiling or disclosure. The Book of Revelation is about revealing who Christ is to the world. I will take a futurist approach and so I thought it would be relevant to discuss what John meant when he said that the revelation must shortly come to pass. There are teachers like RC Sproul and Doug Wilson who say that most of the Book of Revelation has already been fulfilled. They base their argument primarily on the fact that the text says, "these things must shortly come to pass". I believe that they have misunderstood these verses. I hold to a futurist, premillennial interpretation of the book of Revelation. I highly recommend John Walvoord's Bible Commentaries, especially the commentary on the Book of Revelation. I am excited to begin this journey and look at the end times as it is described in the book of Revelation. I want to approach this end times book by looking at the text and not trying to fit it into our present day but just let the text speak for itself. There are times when I will refer to history when it is being alluded to in the Book of Revelation. I do think that as we look at our current world situation, the virus, the vaccine and the loss of freedoms around the world, it will be helpful to have a solid understanding on end times theology as revealed in scripture. Lets not jump to conclusions about the vaccine being the mark of the beast. Lets be level headed and examine the scriptures carefully.
