Galileo (50% wool / 50% viscose from bamboo http://shrsl.com/x62p) took up color from food coloring beautifully. (KnitPicks Affiliate Link) The colors were way more vivid than I anticipated. What will we get if we handpaint this stunning yarn base with Jacquard acid dyes?
VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction
[0:36] Presoaking the yarn in water + 2 T white vinegar for at least 20 min.
[0:44] Mixing the Jacquard Acid dyes Using 1% Jacquard Stock solutions: 1/3 cup fire red, 1/3 cup pink, ~ 1/6 pink + ~1/6 cup sun yellow, 1/3 cup sun yellow. A total volumue of ~ 1.33 cups of dye from 1% stock solutions
[2:18] Handpainting the yarn
[6:45] Flipping the yarn to paint the other side
[10:15] Wrapping up the yarn in plastic wrap to prepare to heat the yarn to set the color
[11:22] Steaming the yarn in a steamer basket for 20 min
[12:01] Washing the yarn
[16:52] The finished dry yarn and conclusions.
