Semi solid yarns are some of my favorites to knit with, and I've never tried to dye one with Jacquard acid dyes.
Let's kettle dye some KnitPicks Swish Worsted yarn (100% superwash merino) http://shrsl.com/vqy6 with 2.4% OWG Jacquard Fire Red Acid Dye. Watch to see how our stunning yarn turns out!
VIDEO CONTENTS
[0:00] Introduction, presoaking the yarn in plain tap water
[0:21] Setting up the dyebath - 3 T white vinegar in 12 cups of water. 1 cup of a 1% stock solution of Jacquard Fire Red Acid dye. (~240 mL, OWG = 2.4%)
[1:32] Adding the yarn to the hot dyepot
[3:23] After 4 min in the pot - clearned considerably
[3:30] After 10 min in the pot. Turn off the heat and let the yarn sit in the warm dyebath for another 15 min.
[3:58] Removing the yarn from the pot
[4:41] Washing the yarn
