Today we’re watching Dave Chappelle for 17 minutes straight, because you guys have been recommending him to me for so long — and I felt like one short clip just wasn’t enough to really understand his style.
This was my first time properly sitting down with a longer Dave Chappelle set, and I get why people consider him one of the most influential comedians of all time. His storytelling, voices, timing, and ability to talk about uncomfortable topics in a way that still gets huge reactions is honestly impressive.
A lot of this set dives into race, culture, social dynamics, and American life, and as someone who didn’t grow up in the U.S., it’s really interesting to see how comedy is used to reflect and challenge those conversations. Some moments made me laugh instantly, some caught me off guard, and some definitely made me think — which I feel like is kind of the point with his comedy.
By the end of it, the 17 minutes flew by way faster than I expected.
