Initially recorded on July 18, 1963, the group did 3 takes but felt they were not satisfactory. The version that made the album was recorded in four takes on July 30. The last take was selected as the best and a mono mix was made on August 21st.
Lennon used his Gibson J160e and Harrison used his Jose Ramirez classical.
A couple things to take note of:
Lennons strumming pattern during the solo and at 1:44
George rushes the first phrase!
